Vietnamese citizens return home safely from US

More than 340 Vietnamese citizens have returned home safely from the US and been quarantined upon their arrival, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hanoi (VNA) –
More than 340 Vietnamese citizens have returned home safely from the US andbeen quarantined upon their arrival, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of ForeignAffairs.

On May 7 and 8,Vietnamese authorities and representative agencies in the US, Vietnam Airlinesand relevant US agencies worked together to bring back home the citizens fromSan Francisco Airport.

Thepassengers included many children under 18 years old, overseas studentswho don’t have accommodation due to dormitory closures, the elderly, the sickand those living in difficult circumstances.

Upon arriving at VanDon Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, the passengers and cabin crew memberswere quarantined in line with regulations.

To conduct theflight, the Vietnamese Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport, theVietnamese Embassy and representative agencies in the US worked with domesticagencies and US authorities to assist the airline in completing procedures tobring home the citizens.

Many of thecitizens had reportedly been stranded in San Francisco InternationalAirport in recent times as they awaited flights to return home, with somestranded since March 22.

The Vietnamese ConsulateGeneral in San Francisco and other Vietnamese representative agencies in the UStried to assist stranded Vietnamese citizens in terms of accommodation, travellingand pandemic prevention measures.

In the coming days,more flights from other countries will bring back Vietnamese citizens homedepending on the pandemic's developments, quarantine capacity of Vietnameselocalities, and the demand of Vietnamese citizens living overseas./.

The inspection revealed that passenger P.T.H. had concealed 10 pieces of the metal, weighing about 5 kg, inside her bra and underwear.
