The Vietnamese community in Samara province, Russia, on June 24 held a congress to establish their association in the locality.

Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia Hoang Tran Thieu, on behalf of the Vietnamese community, expressed thank to Samara authorities for offering favourable conditions to Vietnamese people residing in the locality in the past years.

Thieu underscored that the Vietnamese community in Samara has always observed the law of both countries, supported each other and participated in activities helping their home country. The foundation of the Samara-based association of overseas Vietnamese people will help further strengthen the bonds among them, he added.

Representatives of the Samara authorities showed support for the establishment of the association, adding that they wish the association will make further contribution to local socio-economic development.-VNA
