The draft amendment of Vietnam’s 1992 Constitution aims to perfect the law-governed socialist State of the people, by the people and for the people.

It also means to develop the socialist-orientated market economy and better ensure human rights in the country.

This was pinpointed by Le Minh Thong, Deputy Head of the National Assembly’s Law Committee, at a reception for Cuban guests in Hanoi on October 17.

Thong along with delegates from the NA’s Judicial Committee welcomed the Cuban Council of State Secretary Homero Acosta Alvarez, who is also the coordinator of a research working group on constitutional reform, and his entourage.

Thong told his guests that the draft amendment of the constitution was open for public feedback, collecting over eight million opinions. It will continue to be adjusted before being submitted to the NA on its upcoming 6th session.

Both sides also used the occasion to discuss the structure and operation of tribunals and procuracies in legal administrative activities, the relations between NA deputies and voters as well as election organisation.-VNA
