Hanoi hosted the 6th version of the annual Dragon Dance Festival, part of celebrations to mark the city's 1010th anniversary.

The festival, organised by Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, took place on pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake over the weekend. Dragon dancers from all around the city put on exceptional performances for the crowd.

A total of 13 teams from different districts participated in the event. Each performance aims to show various historical events from Hanoi’s history. All performances require artists to be both meticulous and skillful.

A typical performance lasts between five and seven minutes. In recent years, the festival has developed into an important traditional cultural event, usually attracting thousands of residents and tourists.

This event aims to honour and advertise the cultural beauty of Thang Long-Hanoi while encouraging folk artisans to maintain and pass on local heritage values./.
