The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan hosteda banquet on the occasion of the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year)festival on Feb. 10 with the participation of Japanese andinternational guests.
Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh expressed his thanks to foreignfriends, especially those from Japan , for their assistance to Vietnamduring times of trouble.
The ambassador added that he hoped for further support from Japan andother international friends in 2010 so that Vietnam might attain bettersocio-economic achievements and fulfill its role as ASEAN chairman.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Akamatsu Hirotaka saidthat since the signing of the Vietnam and Japan investmentencouragement and protection agreement in 2004 and the effectiveness oftheir bilateral economic partnership in 2009, trade, economy andinvestment ties between the two countries have developed strongly.
He also expressed the hope that cooperation in all sectors, especiallyin agriculture, forestry and fisheries, will further develop.
Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party Shii Kazuo extended hiscongratulations to Vietnamese leaders on the occasion the 80th foundinganniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, expressing the hope forsteadily improving relations between the two parties in the future.
The same day, nearly 200 overseas Vietnamese in Algeria gathered at a meeting hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy.
Ambassador Do Trong Cuong said he hoped that the Vietnamese communityin Algeria would make further contributions to nation building anddevelopment as well as increasing friendship and cooperation betweenthe two countries.
