Algiers (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria on November 6 presented certificates of merit to a number of local filmmakers and reporters in honour of their contributions to raising public awareness about Vietnam and ties between the two countries.

The honorees were four members of Lotus Film Production, including executive director Mohamed Zakari Digeur, producer Samir Lezzoum, cameraman Abdehamid Aktouf, and sound expert Djamal Bouhafs; along with journalist Ait Mahieddine Yazid from state broadcaster Algeria ENTV and reporter Bilal Lerari from El Hayat, one of the private TV channels with the largest numbers of audiences.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru wished that the filmmakers and journalists would continue supporting the embassy in communications work in the future.

Producer Lezzoum expressed his readiness to partner with the embassy on upcoming work.

In collaboration with the embassy and Vietnamese agencies concerned, the Lotus Film Production filmed the documentary entitled “Vietnam, precious gem of Asia” early this year, which premiered on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

The film has both French and Arabian versions and will be screened on several State and private television channels in Algeria.

Dossier has also been prepared to send the documentary to regional and international film festivals.

Journalist Yazid expressed his impression about Vietnam’s achievements during the renovation process, which he said, inspired him to write comments for the film.

Reporter Lerari, for his part, actively covered activities of the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria as well as relations between the two nations./.
