Seoul (VNA) –
The third cultural-sport festival of overseas Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea (RoK) central city of Daejeon took place on June 25 and 26, attracting thousands of visitors including many Vietnamese-Korean families.

The festival aims to boost solidarity within the community and promote Vietnamese culture in the RoK, said Vo Thanh Son, head of the Vietnamese People’s Association in Daejeon, which is also the organiser of the event.

The festival featured various activities, including a music competition, language quizzes, folk games and a food festival.

Alongside the festival, a football tournament for Vietnamese students in the country was organized for the eighth time with the sponsorship of ICFood Co., Ltd.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Pham Huu Chi praised both events and the organizers and sponsors.

He also highlighted an East Sea photo exhibition that was held as part of the festival, adding that it helped Korean people gain insights into China’s illegal construction of artificial islands and militarisation on Vietnam’s islands it unlawfully occupies in the East Sea.

ICFood President Park Kyun-ik said his company is committed to support Vietnamese students in the RoK in social and sport activities, which he considers a way to foster the ties between the two countries.-VNA
