Singapore (VNA) – Vietnamese expatriates in Singapore celebrated the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival at a get-together recently held by the Vietnamese Embassy in the host country and the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Nguyen Tien Minh delivered Tet greetings to the overseas Vietnamese, wishing them a new year of health, happiness and luck.

Tet holiday is an important event which helps preserve traditional values and allows Vietnamese people to meet and support each other in the host nation, he noted.

The Vietnamese diplomat expressed his belief that the expats will continue their efforts to contribute to national development and deepen relations between Vietnam and Singapore.

At the event, Minh also detailed notable events in the country in 2017 and activities to bolster ties between the two countries.

Participants were also treated to art performances and traditional cuisine.-VNA
