Vietnam exported some 59 billion USD worth of commodities in the first four months of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 6.9 percent, according to the General Department of Customs.

Meanwhile, the country's imported goods were worth 51.77 billion USD, so the country's trade deficit during the period was 2.07 billion USD.

Ho Chi Minh City led the country in terms of exports during the period, with a total export value of 9.75 billion USD.

It was followed by the northern province of Bac Ninh and the southern province of Binh Duong with 8.53 billion USD and 5.18 billion USD worth of exported goods, respectively.

Hanoi ranked fifth, with a total export value of 3.5 billion USD.

Regarding imports, HCM City also topped the country with 8.79 billion USD worth of imported commodities, followed by Hanoi with 7.39 billion USD and Bac Ninh with over 7 billion USD.

Bac Ninh took the lead in terms of trade surplus during the period, which reached 1.53 billion USD, followed by Binh Duong and HCM City with trade surplus standing at 1.25 billion USD and 961 million USD, respectively.

Meanwhile, Hanoi topped the country in terms of trade deficit, which reached 3.89 billion USD.-VNA
