Vietnamese exports to Mexico , Latin America ’s second largest economy, reached 97.4 million USD in January, up by nearly 41 percent over the same period last year.

According to the Trade Office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico , in the first month of this year, Vietnam imported more than 4 million USD worth of goods from the country, a drop of 22 percent.

Vietnam mainly exports seafood, garment, footwear, printers, electrical machinery, wood products and sports equipment to Mexico while it imports chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronic components, steel, plastics, cotton and fish powder.

In 2012, Mexico plans to start exporting fresh fruit to Vietnam , with grapes high on the list.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Mexico reached a record high, over 1 billion USD in 2011.-VNA
