Director Nguyen Hoang Diep's first feature film, entitled "Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung" (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere), has won three prizes at the 29th Fribourg International Film Festival.
The festival was held in Switzerland from March 21 to 28.
The three awards are the Mention Speciale (Special Mention) award, Prix du Jury Cecumenique, which honours works of quality that touch spiritual dimension of human existence and Prix du Jury des Jeunes, which is given away by a jury of six members in the 18-24 age group.
"Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere" is a frank yet tender examination of what happens when youthful ambivalence is confronted with life-altering decisions. The movie was screened at and competed in several major international film festivals – including Venice, Bratislava, Busan and Toronto – and won many prestigious awards.-VNA
