Hanoi (VNA) –
The Vietnamese and Indonesian armies and navies are expected to continue enhancing cooperation based on the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Colonel Nguyen Duc Nam, Vice Director of the Vietnam Naval Academy, voiced the hope at a meeting with Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sutanto Soehodho on May 2 as part of his visit to Indonesia from May 1-4.

Soehodho said Jakarta and some major cities in Vietnam share similarities, which enables the two sides to cooperate and share experience for mutual development.

The same day, Nam led the Vietnamese naval delegation to visit  Fleet 1 of the Indonesian Navy.

The two sides agreed that relations between the Vietnamese and Indonesian armies and navies have developed in recent times.

They expected to have more effective cooperation activities in the near future, especially in information exchanges.

The Vietnamese naval delegation later paid a courtesy visit to authorities in north Jakarta.

Earlier on May 1, the Indonesia Navy held a ceremony to welcome the Vietnamese ship coded HQ-286 named Le Quy Don at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta.-VNA
