The Vietnamese Embassy in Italia and the country’s Puglia region have agreed to join hands in organising the Puglia-Vietnam Economic Forum by the end of next March, and to establish a Vietnam Economic Office in the region.

Besides, “Vietnam Days” will also be held in the region in mid-March to push up the cultural exchanges between the localities.

The agreement was reached during a working tour to the region from November 5-6 by Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long who said the potential for cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Puglia , the leading region in southern Italy in economic activities and foreign investment, remains untapped.

Puglia is eager to import garments, footwear, farm produce like coffee and pepper, and wood products from Vietnam while looking to export wine, olive oil and mechanical precision tools to the country. However, enterprises of the two sides are short of information on the other market, the diplomat noted.

Puglia is strong in mechanical industry, high technology, agriculture, and education.-VNA
