Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith attended an exhibition featuring Vietnam-Laos relations in Hanoi on December 20.

The event was hosted by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the CPV Central Committee's Commission for External Relations to mark the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017.

VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi and head of the commission Hoang Binh Quan, both CPV Central Committee members, welcomed the two Party chiefs and senior leaders of Vietnam and Laos and introduced the photos featuring the bilateral relations.

The exhibits include 55 photos by VNA journalists, capturing historical moments of the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, and reflecting the cooperation between the two nations in politics, socio-economy, culture, and security-national defence during the past struggle for national liberation and the current cause of national construction and protection.

They also feature a meeting between late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Xuphanuvonge in the Viet Bac Northern Liberated Zone, a talk between late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, delegation exchanges of the two countries’ leaders over the years, jointly signed cooperation agreements and achievements of each nation.

The event is a significant activity to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation.

Earlier, LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith and his delegation laid wreaths at the Monument to War Heroes and Martyrs and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.-VNA
