Hanoi (VNA) – Vice Chairman of theVietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Khac Dinh hosted a reception for adelegation of the Lao NA’s Ethnic Affairs Committee led by its Chairman KhamchanhSotapaserth in Hanoi on September 21.

Dinh highlighted the special relationship andfriendship between Vietnam and Laos, as well as cooperation between theirlegislative bodies, which has been growing intensively, practically andeffectively.
He spoke highly of the cooperation agreement betweenthe Vietnamese NA’s council and the Lao committee with manyspecific contents, and lauded contributions by the Lao delegation to the NinthGlobal Conference on Young Parliamentarians which took place recently in Hanoi.

The official suggested the two legislatures andtheir committees maintain their coordination in supervising the implementationof cooperation agreements in trade and investment, and addressing obstacles tojoint projects, especially those in infrastructure.

For his part, Sotapaserth praised socioeconomicachievements Vietnam has recorded, and suggested the Vietnamese NA continue itssupport to the Lao legislature and people in the time ahead./.

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.
