According to Colonel Ha DuyHom from the Son La team, markers can only be planted during the dry season asthe weather is favourable for transportation of materials to border marker siteswhich are inaccessible by car.
The eight border markers, No. 150th to157th, will be located on the border section shared by Muong Leo commune in SonLa’s Cop Sop district and Siengkho commune of Laos ’ Huaphanh province. Fivemarkers, No. 145th to No. 149th, have been planted on this section.
SonLa shares 250 km of border with Laos ’ Huaphanh and Luang Prabangprovinces.
According to the project to upgrade and augment border markersalong the Vietnam-Laos border, 101 new border markers are to be planted on SonLa’s border with the Lao localities in addition to the existing 24ones.
When completed, the border section Son La shares with Huaphanhprovince will have a total of 118 markers and the Son La- Luang Prabang border,seven./.
