Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart, Pany Yathotu, have sought measures to further the relations between the two countries during their talks in Hanoi on August 25.
The Vietnamese NA leader spoke highly of Pany Yathotu’s visit to Vietnam immediately following her election as Lao NA President, saying it was a vivid manifestation of the special Vietnam-Laos relation.
NA Chairman Hung congratulated Laos on the success of the 9 th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the 7 th Lao NA election.
He expressed his belief that the exchange of delegations between the two Parties, two States and two NAs will continue consolidating and deepening the Vietnam-Laos special relation in the lead-up to celebrations of the 50 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in 2012.
President Pany Yathotu congratulated Hung on his election as the Chairman of the Vietnamese NA and expressed hope that under his leadership and with NA deputies’ efforts, the Vietnamese NA will see new developments and actively foster the special relation between the Vietnamese and Lao NAs.
She said that the Lao Party, State and people are focusing on implementing the Resolution of the 9 th National LPRP Congress and the five-year Socio-economic Development Plan adopted at the first session of Laos ’ 7 th National Assembly.
She said she was pleased with comprehensive cooperative achievements between the two States and two NAs in politics and socio-economics, especially in human resource development and the serious implementation of cooperative agreements between the two sides.
To promote the Vietnam-Laos special relation, President Pany Yathotu suggested the two sides strengthen coordination in supervising cooperative investment works between the two countries.
Sharing views with his Lao counterpart, Hung said that the two NAs should do their utmost to foster the friendship, faithful comradeship and fraternity between the Vietnamese and Lao people.
He highly valued efforts made by the two NA bodies through the organisation of bilateral and multilateral cooperative activities, saying the friendship between the States, NAs and people of Vietnam and Laos was an invaluable asset that should be preserved and promoted.
He suggested the two sides step up training cooperation and strengthen solidarity and consensus at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums to raise each country’s position in the international arena.
After introducing the Lao delegation to the structure of the 13 th NA, Chairman Hung said that the Vietnamese NA had concluded its first session, focusing on the country’s organisational and personnel work.
The 13 th NA Standing Committee convened its first meeting, discussing measures to improve the operations of the NA, he said.
In an atmosphere of friendship, special solidarity and mutual trust, the two leaders discussed regional and international issues of common concern.
On the same day, President Pany Yathotu and her entourage laid a wreath and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
In the evening, NA Chairman Hung will host a banquet for the Lao guests./.
