Vietnamese and Lao law enforcement authorities on December 21 arrested two drug traffickers in Phonthong district, Lao province of Luang Prabang in a joint operation.

According to the Border Guard Command of the mountainous province of Son La, the operation was carried out by the command’s drug squad, the anti-smuggling force of the Vietnam General Customs Department and Phonthong district police.

The two suspects, Na Sinh Cha and Giong Hau, all residents of Phonthong district, were caught red handed at midnight when they were trading four cakes of heroine (nearly 1.5kg) and more than 14,000 synthetic pills.

The criminals confessed that they had bought the drug in Bokeo province of Laos and planned to smuggle into Vietnam.

The case has been handed over to the Lao side for dealing in line with Lao law.-VNA
