More than 180 of Algeria’s top martial artists participated in the final round of the national Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) tournament, which took place in the capital city of Algiers of the country on June 13.
After one day of competition, the National Security Association’s team topped the medal tally with seven gold medals, while Olympique Bourouba ranked second with six medals and Najm Chrarbar was placed third with five.
This major national tournament is organised by the Algeria Vovinam Federation once every five years, with a hope of improving martial artists’ competence.
It honours outstanding talents, while discovering new prospects and selecting martial artists with high potential to participate in international Vovinam championships.
There are about 8,000 martial artists participating in 140 Vovinam clubs in Algeria.-VNA
