of people with HIV/AIDS took place in Ho Chi Minh City on July 13-14.
The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) and the North Europe organisation.
Deputy Chairman of the VFFCC Ha Van Nui stressed that discrimination is one of the biggest obstacles to preventing HIV/AIDS as well as caring for people with HIV/AIDS.
He said that eliminating social evils, preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and caring for abandoned children who have the virus are a must for the whole of society.
Over the past few years, all religions but especially Vietnamese Muslims have made a lot of progress when combating HIV/AIDS and discrimination in the community and curbing the number of new patients.
Haji Machdares Samael, the head of Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Representative Committee pledged to actively take part in HIV/AIDS prevention programme and fight the discrimination./.
