Six officials of the Ministries of Transport, Health and Public Security and the National Committee for Traffic Safety are attending a training course on traffic safety which will run in Washington DC and Phoenix city of Arizona State until July 17.

According to Nancy Foster, coordinator of the training programme, the training course is expected to help increase Vietnamese officials’ capacity in making plans to improve the country’s traffic safety.

During the 10-day course, trainees have chance to study traffic safety in several places in Washington DC and learn the US’s experience in ensuring traffic equality between non-disabled and disabled people, popularising traffic safety information and giving first aid to minimise losses from traffic accidents.

They will also take part in a conference on traffic safety data.

A number of US experts are expected to be sent to Vietnam to help train local officials in the matter, Foster said./.
