Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Chinese Yunnan province’s Kunming city on April 9 during his official visit to China from April 7.

Earlier, he met with executives from Chinese companies investing in Vietnam in Beijing.

Talking to representatives of the Huawei Technologies group, the Vietnamese leader congratulated the firm on its achievements in business activities, including yielding 46 billion USD in revenue in 2014 and the development of environmentally friendly technology solutions.

He spoke highly of Huawei’s cooperation with Vietnam’s telecommunications companies and its assistance in telecommunication personnel training in the Southeast Asian country.

He expressed his hope that Huawei will continue its cooperation projects in Vietnam, ultimately benefiting businesses and contributing to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and the two countries’ relations.

The Huawei group began its operations in Vietnam in 1998 and set up the Huawei Technologies (Vietnam) Co. Ltd a decade later.

It has coordinated with Vietnamese telecommunication partners to train some 4,650 technology engineers. The firm is also carrying out a blueprint on developing its information and communication technology personnel until 2017.

In another meeting with executives of the Zhongxing Telecommunications Corporation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong valued the enterprise’s efforts in implementing cooperation projects in communications and railway signals, adding he hopes the firm and Vietnam will bolster collaboration and exchange in scientific research.

Zhongxing, with representative offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Can Tho, has carried out nearly 50 projects in Vietnam, including a project upgrading the signal system of three railway routes in the north of the country.

Its representatives thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favourable conditions for the firm’s operations and said it hopes for further support in the implementation of phase II of the railway signal modernisation project.-VNA
