The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) in the US will finance Vietnamese PhD graduated in the US to prepare for their return and employment in Vietnam, said VEF Board Chairman Issacs Silvera.

The commitment was made during Silvera’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in Hanoi on July 26.

Silvera said the VEF’s funding will be 2,000 USD for each during the first five years, and a fivefold increase in the following years to prepare for research and work in Vietnam.

The VEF Board Chairman said the foundation will pay more attention to and support education and training in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy PM Nhan hailed the VEF’s contributions to the Vietnamese education sector.

Vietnam is willing to create every possible condition for the Vietnamese fellowships abroad, especially in the US, to return home and contribute to the country, he said.

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that the VEF will do more supporting and assisting the development of Vietnam’s education system in the coming time.-VNA
