Vietnamese photographer Nguyen Minh Tan has received a prize at the fourth edition of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA).

An annual awards ceremony took place at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) last week.

Tan’s photo depicting traffic jams at night in Ho Chi Minh City won the third prize in the category "Night Photography".

With a grand prize of 120,000 USD and an overall prize pool of 400,000 USD, the categories for the fourth installment of HIPA were ‘Life in Colour' (which also serves as the main theme), ‘General', ‘Faces (Black & White)' and ‘Night Photography.'

The organisers reported that the number of photographs submitted for the latest edition reached 60,162 from a total of 30,878 participants from 166 different countries around the world.

They also announced that the theme for the award's fifth edition will revolve around the universal search for ‘Happiness'.-VNA
