A selection of Vietnamese handicraft products were on display at the 45th Algiers International Trade Fair from May 30 to June 5 in Algeria ’s capital Algiers.

Two Vietnamese companies attending the fair showcased their traditional handicrafts, garments and textile products, which drew a lot of attention from international visitors.

According to Nguyen Van Mui, the Vietnamese Embassy’s Trade Counsellor in Algeria , in the first four months of 2012, Vietnamese exports to the African country earned 64.2 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 65.1 percent. The main products exported were coffee, recording a revenue of nearly 36.2 million USD and rice, reaching almost 16 million USD.

This year nearly 1,000 businesses, many of them multi-nationals, from 36 countries attended the fair, including China , India , Malaysia and Vietnam . According to the organiser, SAFEX, the five-day event attracted nearly 100,000 visitors.

In 2011, 565 overseas companies from 28 countries exhibited at the fair.-VNA
