Young Vietnamese singer Khuat Duy Vinh won the third prize worth 20,000 EUR at the 12th international contest for young pop singers, New Wave 2013, that concluded in Latvia ’s Yurmala city on July 28.
Singer Roberto Kel Torres fro Cuba was crowned with the first prize worth 50,000 EUR while the 30,000 EUR second one went to Georgian Saloma Katamadze.
According to composer Igor Krutoi, one of the founders of the contest, this year’s five-day event attracted the largest number of contestants in 12 years with 16 young singers from 12 countries.
Vinh from Hanoi is pursuing a special artistic education in Germany and held the first place in a number of musical contests.-VNA
