The Vietnam National Drama Theatre's stage work was awarded a prize for excellence at the second ASEAN-China Theatre and Drama Festival, which recently wrapped up in Nanning, China.

The play Chuyen Chang Dung Sy (The Story of A Valiant Man) was staged for children, and adapted by veteran director Anh Tu from the popular epic Dam San of the E De ethnic group in the Central Highlands. It was staged in Vietnam for the first time earlier this month.

Leading artists Le Ngoc, Ta Tuan, Tung Lam and Mai Huong also received awards at the festival.

Last year, another of the theatre's productions Cai Lao Hoan Dong (Rejuvenation) was voted as the most popular play at the festival.-VNA
