Student Dang Huynh Mai Anh has become one of the three winners of the Bayer Young Environmental Leader Award 2012, leaving 16 other international nominators behind.

The other two winners were the students from Costa Rica and Kenya , according to the official website of the Bayer Group and United Nations Environment Programme on November 13.

Anh, who is studying at Foreign Trade University branch No.2 in Ho Chi Minh City , was honoured for her translation of economics-related knowledge into practice by developing ideas on how to reduce energy consumption and the use of materials and resources in individual households, and thus saving money.

Based on her extensive research, she successfully designed, produced and distributed “Green Handbook for Housewives”, in an effort to raise the local community’s awareness on environment protection.

Previously, from November 3 to 9, Anh and the other Vietnamese student Phan Khuong were nominated as the two Bayer environment envoys presenting for Vietnam to participate in an ecological excursion to the German city of Leverkusen .

Being held annually, the Bayer Young Environmental Leader Award is organized by the Bayer Group in coordination with the United Nations Environment Programme.

It offers a playing ground for international youths to show their commitments as well as to inspire others in their communities to the environment protection.

The programme was put into place in Vietnam since 2006, drawing the enthusiastic participation of the youth nationwide./.VNA
