All five members of the Vietnamese team won medals, including three golds, in a successful showing at the 2014 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2014) in Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the gold medalists are 12th grader Cao Ngoc Thai from the central province of Nghe An and two students from Hanoi - 12th grader Do Thi Bich Hue and 11 th grader Vu Thanh Trung Nam.

The two silver medals went to Dao Phuong Khoi from Hanoi and Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh from Ho Chi Minh City.

With the performance, Vietnam was among the top ten countries at the event, which saw the participation of 383 contestants from 84 countries and territories over the world.

At IPhO 2013 in Denmark, Vietnam won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Meanwhile, all four Vietnamese students attending the 2014 International Olympiad in Informatics in Taiwan this year also brought home medals.

Nguyen Quang Dung and Ngo Hoang Anh won silvers, while Do Xuan Viet and Nguyen Tien Trung Kien won bronzes. All of them are from Hanoi.

In last year’s event in Australia, the Vietnamese team won two silver and two bronze medals.-VNA
