Vietnamese student-athletes, representing over 10 million students at junior and senior high schools nationwide, will take part in the third ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) in Singapore from July 1-7.

The 147-member team will compete in six sports at the event– swimming, table tennis, basketball, track and field, gymnastics and tennis.

The team is expected to shine at track and field and gymnastics.

The event offers a chance for Vietnamese students to engage in exchanges with regional friends, helping to narrow the gap in sports between the country with others in the region, said Deputy Minister of Education and Training Tran Quang Quy, at a farewell meeting on June 29.

The event see the participation of more than 1,100 athletes from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and the host country. /.
