– Vietnam will take part in the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) in Thailand from August 26 to September 5.

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs saw off the Vietnamese delegation in Hanoi on August 23.

The event features 337 competitors from the 10 ASEAN member countries.

It includes 26 occupations grouped into six categories, consisting of industrial technology, web design and communications, fashion and creative industries, transportation and logistics, construction and buildings, and personal and social services.

Fifty-two Vietnamese competitors selected from a national skill contest will show their talents in the regional round.

The ASC showcases ASEAN’s top young talents in various fields and encourages participating countries to develop motivated and high-performing skilled workers. It also serves as a platform for collaboration within the skills community in ASEAN as the region strives to enhance technical and vocational education and training.

Last year, Vietnam claimed third place at the 11th ASC with 10 gold, five silver and four bronze medals, finishing behind Malaysia and Indonesia.-VNA
