The Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) and the Thailand Press Federation (TPF) celebrated their 20-year cooperation at a ceremony held in Hanoi on September 25.

VJA Chairman Thuan Huu said since its inception in 1954, VJA has expanded links with regional and global press agencies, especially those from Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Thailand.

The two organisations, as members of the ASEAN Press Federation (APF), have done for an ASEAN of peace, stability and prosperity, he stated, expressing wish that both sides will push forward their cooperation by practical activities for the press development.

TPF and APF Honorary Chairman Bandhit Bajavatan Adhanin said he hopes the two organisations will do more to materialise the goal of building an ASEAN Community in the next two years.

Over the past 20 years, VJA and FPF have annually exchanged visits, fact-finding tours and professional exchanges, thereby updating their member journalists’ knowledge pool and sharpening their journalistic skills.

A similar ceremony is slated for October in Bangkok.-VNA
