Washington (VNA)Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh and Vietnamese Consul General to Houston Nguyen Van Hoa met outstanding business representatives in the US state of Texas on April 28.

The event, held on the sidelines of the Vietnam War Summit in Austin city, was attended by more than 30 delegates representing 25 major local businesses operating in hi-tech, information technology, oil and gas service, education, finance-investment funds, and real estate.

Besides companies already familiar with the Vietnamese market such as IBM and Shell, many Texas firms came with the intention to explore the possibility of doing business in Vietnam.

Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Vinh hailed the strides in the Vietnam - US ties over the past 20 years, especially since the establishment of the bilateral comprehensive partnership in 2013.

Vietnam commits utmost efforts to speeding up the National Assembly approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), he stated.

He also informed participants about the upcoming Vietnam’s visit by US President Barack Obama this May as well as the outcomes of the 12 th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Consul General Hoa affirmed that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston, together with the Vietnamese embassy in Washington D.C, will work to serve as a bridge to facilitate trade and investment between the two countries.

Texas enterprises expressed their optimism about Vietnam’s economic prospects, hoping that the TPP will provide a boost for economic ties between Texas and Vietnam.-VNA
