Vietnamese: top tourist arrivals to Cambodia

Vietnamese remained the top foreign visitor to Cambodia in 2013 with 854,000 people travelling to the neighbouring country, up 12 percent over the previous year, the Cambodian Tourism Ministry reported on February 17.

Cambodia attracted 4.2 million foreign visitors last year, earning 2.5 billion USD.

Chinese and Republic of Korea tourists ranked second and third, with 463,000 and 435,000 arrivals, respectively.

In recent years, Vietnam has taken the lead in the number of tourists to Cambodia, making up 20 percent of the total foreign visitors to the neighbour.

Tourism, one of Cambodia’s key economic sectors, is growing by 15-20 percent a year. Last year, the country received 3.58 million foreign arrivals, earning 2.21 billion USD.

Most foreign visitors to Cambodia visit the Angkor Wat Temple in Siem Reap, the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh and the ancient Preah Vihear Temple near the border with Thailand.-VNA
