Vietnamese woman receives French honour order
The French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City recently has awarded the
National Order of the Legion of Honour of the French Government to
Nguyen Thi Xuan Phuong, who is a former war reporter and documentary
film director of the Vietnam Television.

The award aims to honour Phuong, born in 1924, for her contributions to developing the Vietnam – France relations.
From 1964-2009, Phuong helped organise for 28 French film makers delegations to visit Vietnam. She also brought many Vietnamese artists to France to hold exhibitions.
During the past 30 years, she works as a translator and writer to introduce Vietnam to French readers
The National Order of Legion of Honour is the noblest order of France and was inaugurated by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802 to honour individuals and organisations for their great contributions to France as well as relations between France and other nations./.
