The Vietnamese women’s football team secured their place in the semi-finals at the 17th Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in Incheon, the Republic of Korea (RoK), after defeating their Thai rivals 2-1 on September 26.
Despite the Thai women taking the lead 0-1 during the second half, the Vietnamese team made an impressive comeback by scoring two goals in the 53rd and 76th minutes.
The goals were scored by midfielders Nguyen Thi Lieu and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese men’s football team failed to proceed further in the competition after an unsuccessful match in the knock-out round losing 1-3 to the United Arab Emirates and ending their participation in ASIAD 17.-VNA
