Vietnam has expelled a Vietnamese-American, named Vo Kevin Huan, for allegedly spreading false information against the State of Vietnam.

The expelling took place at international Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City on the night of July 24 under the witness of representatives from the US General Consulate and the investigation agency of the Ministry of Public Security.

Vo Kevin Huan, 25, also known as Vo Tan Huan, arrived in the country on July 10, was arrested on July 16 when police seized from him 103 pages containing wordings that incite sentiments against the Vietnamese State .

Huan admitted he had joined an organisation called “Assembly of Democratic Young People” led by Nguyen Tien Trung and Hoang Lan (Nguyen Thi Huong) in February 2009. He also wrote eight articles against the Vietnamese State that were published on “Phia truoc” magazine.

He also took part in online seminars with other members of the organisation to discuss activities to undermine the Vietnamese State .

At a recommendation of Hoang Lan and Tran Mai Lan, Huan joined the “Democratic Party of Vietnam” headed by Nguyen Sy Binh (leader of a US-based reactionary organisation and head of the People’s Action Party) in June 2009.

Huan said he regularly met with Doan Viet Hoat, Director of the Institute of International Universities for Vietnam , for writing articles against the Vietnamese State .

He confessed that before coming to Vietnam , he had been assigned by Nguyen Sy Binh to collect information about current social situation and public opinions on the arrest of other subversives – Le Cong Dinh and Nguyen Tien Trung, and other issues related to national security in the country.

Huan admitted he had violated Vietnamese law and expressed his repentance and asked for the State’s clemency./.
