Phnom Penh (VNA) – The new headquarters of the High Command of the Royal Cambodian Army, funded by the Vietnamese Defence Ministry, was inaugurated in Phnom Penh on January 24.

The inauguration ceremony took place on the occasion of the 19th founding anniversary of the high command.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army Meas Sophea said the headquarters and other buildings funded by the Vietnamese Defence Ministry have contributed to upgrading Cambodia’s army infrastructure, thus safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining political stability and social order.

Recounting the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers’ dedication to saving Cambodians from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime in the past, he affirmed that the Cambodian army and people always highly value the long-standing friendly neighborliness with Vietnam and will do their best to foster bilateral ties.
