Vientiane (VNA) –
The new headquarters of the Laos-Vietnam cooperation committee was inaugurated in Vientiane on September 9, which is a gift from the Vietnamese Government.

The construction of the four-storey building, which commenced in June 2018, was funded by a non-refundable aid package of 56 billion VND (2.4 million USD) from the Vietnamese Government and the corresponding capital of 4 billion VND from the Lao Government.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam cooperation committee Khampheui Keokinnali described the project as a model of the two countries’ cooperation in the new period.

He thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for supporting Laos in all fields over the past time, and wished the bilateral traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation will continuously thrive.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos cooperation committee Nguyen Van Trung said the headquarters will create a better working environment for staff at the Laos-Vietnam cooperation committee.

On this occasion, Trung presented 10,000 USD as aid for residents affected by natural disasters in Laos’ central and southern provinces.-VNA
