The Vietnamese embassy in Germany on September 15 held a ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany and the 65th National Day of Vietnam.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem, German Secretary of State for Education and Research Helge Braun along with representatives from German agencies and organisations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Khiem highlighted the historical significance of the founding day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as well as the country’s achievements during the renewal process.

Ambassador Do Hoa Binh said that over the past 35 years since Vietnam and Germany have established the diplomatic ties, the relationship between the two countries are increasingly strengthened and developed.

He also highlighted the establishment of the Vietnam-Germany University in Ho Chi Minh City and the fact that at present, Germany is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in EU./.
