Bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Indonesia increased 37.7 percent in the first half of the year to 1.94 billion USD, said officials.

Statistics released by the Trade Mission of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, show that Vietnam’s exports reached 948.45 million USD, representing a year-on-year rise of 50.55 percent.

The export of rice, vegetables, rubber, steel and iron and chemical products recorded the highest increases, while the export of vehicles and spare parts, coal and coffee decreased.

In the reviewed period, Vietnam imported 998.78 million USD worth of goods from Indonesia, up 27.52 percent year on year, mainly completely-built automobiles, metals, pharmaceuticals, cattle feed and materials, and cottons.

According to the bureau, Vietnam – Indonesia two-way trade is expected to reach 3.5 billion USD in 2011./.
