(Photo: VietnamPlus) Hanoi (VNA) - The third Vietnam-Korea Digital Forum kicked off in Hanoi on November 6, offering an opportunity for both sides to share cooperation needs in the fields of information technology and digital transformation, as well as policies on digital technology, technology development, and human resource training.
The two-day event was co-organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications, the Embassy of Republic of Korea (RoK) in Vietnam, Korea IT Cooperation Centre and RoK’s Ministry of Science and ICT.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam highlighted the forum as a promising venue to boost collaboration in information and communication technology (ICT), one of the fields that have a strong influence on all aspects of life and socioeconomic activities.
According to Tam, during 2021-2030 period, digital transformation is happening all around the world. Based on the foundation of new technologies, it is creating a new development space and has been identified as the core of the most rapid and sustainable growth models globally.
The Vietnamese Government suggested the goals of developing a digital government, a digital economy, digital society, and forming Vietnamese digital technology enterprises with global competitiveness. These are a part of its aspirations for a strong and prosperous nation with its people enjoying a prosperous and happy life.

(Photo: VietnamPlus) The RoK is a leading country in the field of digital technology and an important partner of Vietnam, he said, adding that the two countries have many things in common and opportunities for cooperation, especially in terms of digital government development and human resources.
He went on to say that the two sides have engaged in various concrete and practical activities, such as offering human resources training for Vietnamese agencies and assistance in drafting laws on electronic transactions.
Tan said he hopes that through the forum, the two countries can share experiences, strengthen their cooperation and discover new opportunities for collaboration.
Jeong Sung, Deputy Director of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, said he hopes that based on solid trust in the comprehensive strategic cooperation relationship, Vietnam and the RoK will work together to solve new challenges and continue to maintain close linkages and exchanges in the field of digital transformation.
Tran Minh Tan, deputy director of the National Institute of Information and Communications Strategy shared orientations for developing Vietnamese national digital infrastructure.
According to the National Digital Transformation vision, Vietnam aims to become a digital country by 2030. As part of the national digital platform development, Vietnam is prioritising developing digital platforms under the "Make in Vietnam" initiative.
At the event, businesses from the two countries discussed AI solutions for healthcare, smart cities, digital security and smart mobility.
The same day, the Vietnam-Korea IT Cooperation Alliance, a partnership representing information technology companies in Vietnam and the RoK, was formed. It is expected to facilitate cooperation and provide information on business support programmes of the two governments, and help companies access each other’s market./.
