Vietnam’s Quang Nam central province has coordinated with Sekong province of Laos to erect 33 border markers in the first half of this year.

The figure was released at the sixth meeting between the two provinces’ border marker steering boards, in Quang Nam on August 11.

The provinces plan to erect an additional 13 border markers in the second half of this year.

They reached consensus on the ratification of the Nam Giang – Dac Ta Ooc border gate plan launched by the Institute for Urban and Rural Planning of Quang Nam .

The two sides also agreed on a number of measures to step up the refurbishment of border markers along their common border by the end of 2012.

The Sekong side proposed Quang Nam help it draft a design for the construction of Ka Lum border guard station and open a 2.5-km road linking border marker No. 692 to Ta Vang hamlet in Ka Lum district of Laos in preparation for the opening of Tay Giang – Ka Lum auxiliary border gates, scheduled for the end of this year./.
