Cooperative ties between Vietnam and Malaysia have been growing encouragingly in many areas from politics and diplomacy to economics, trade, investment, security, defence, education and training and labour.

This was stated by the chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam-Malaysia Friendship Organisation Le Thanh Tam and the Malaysian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Khairi Bin Omar, at a meeting to mark Malaysia’s 53 rd National Day on August 30.

Malaysia is one of Vietnam’s leading investors in construction, power stations, water supplies, gas, mechanical engineering and banking. Two-way trade between the two countries reached over 4 billion USD last year.

Both parties said that the visits by the leaders of both countries underline their determination to further their good relationship and cooperation for their mutual benefit, which will help to ensure a peaceful, stable and prosperous Southeast Asia.

Tam said he hoped that Malaysia will continue to foster its friendship relationship with Vietnam and help with the regions’ development./.
