August 3 alone witnessed 35 new A/H1N1 flu infections nationwide, mostly in the south, reported the Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment under the Ministry of Health.

As a result, the total number of confirmed cases reached 971 as of 17:00 of August 3, but no deaths from the virus have been reported so far.

Almost half of the patients have been released from hospital while the remaining 501 are under medical treatment and strict supervision. They were reported to be in stable health condition without any major complications.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported that there had been 184,870 confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in 153 countries and territories worldwide by August 3. The epidemic has claimed 1,252 lives worldwide.

In Southeast Asia, some countries have reported H1N1 flu mortalities, especially Thailand , which was the worst hit, with 65 deaths./.
