Death toll from A/H1N1 influenza in Vietnam has risen to 27 after the two more fatalities were confirmed on Oct. 16 and 20, local health officials said.

Both the dead are children, one from the central city of Da Nang and the other from the southern province of Ben Tre.

The Health Ministry reported that a total of 10,349 people have tested positive for the flu as of Oct. 22, of whom 9,941 have recovered and been released from hospital. The remainder are currently quarantined for treatment.

The ministry warned that people, especially those with chronic diseases, the elderly, children and pregnant women, should pay due attention to their health and avoid contact with persons who are suspected of being infected by the potentially deadly virus./.
