Leaders of the Vietnamese government and the Party have extended congratulations to their Chinese counterparts on China’s 60th National Day (October 1, 1949-2009).

Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong extended their good wishes to Chinese Party General Secretary and State President Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Wu Banguo, and Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao. The full text of their message follows:

“On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of China’s National Day – a festival of Chinese people, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnam’s State, Government and people and also personnally, we send to you and through you, to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and China’s State, Government and people, the best wishes.

“Over the past 60 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have reached enormous achievements, making many great exploits admired by the world. Noteworthy is the development achievements that China has gained after more than 30 years of its reform and open-door, which are turning China into the world’s leading country in comprehensive national strength, contributing to improving Chinese people’s living standards, bringing China’s role and position to a new height in the international arena and giving impetus to the world’s common development. China ’s past great efforts together with those from other countries have also contributed to overcoming effectively the adverse impacts triggered by the global financial crisis – the first step for the economic growth recovery in the world. The Vietnamese people are delighted at and warmly congratulate the Chinese people on those achievements. The Vietnamese people also believe that the Chinese people will reach definitely greater achievements in their course of reform and open-door as well as the building up of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

“We are very pleased with the more and more profound development of and important results from comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two parties and the two nations in line with their 16-word motto and four-best spirit. The maintenance of visits exchanged by the two countries’ leaders, the increase in the political trust between the two sides, the effectiveness in bilateral cooperation in all fields and gradual resolution of issues remaining in the two countries’ relations including the completion of land border demarcation and marker planting are of historical significance to the two countries.

“We believe that on the occasion of the 2010 Vietnam-China Friendship Year and with joint efforts from both sides, activities to mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties will help further consolidate the traditional friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples as well as strengthen the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two States.

“The Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people always attach importance to and wish to further develop the friendship and cooperation with the Party, State, Government and people of China; and will do their utmost to together with the Chinese side to foster the bilateral relationship in an effort to develop the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership for the prosperity of each nation and for the benefits of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

“We wish all of you good health and more successes on your noble positions.”

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, sent messages of congratulations to Chinese State Councillor and Chairman of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, Dai Bingguo, and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi./.
