Vietnam’s Cultural Days in US to open next month

Vietnam’s Cultural Days will take place between August 8 and 12 in Washington D.C. and New York City, the US, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The event is being jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism, Vietnam Embassy to the US and Permanent Mission of Vietnam tothe United Nations.

At a press conference in Hanoion July 21, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong DuyBien said the Minister Hoang Anh Tuan is scheduled to visit the USduring the five-day event to boost cultural exchange between the twonations.

The event will launch with a premier folkmusic concert entitled “Huong Sac Viet Nam” (Fragrance and Colour ofVietnam) on the evening of August 8 at the Terrace Theatre in the JohnF. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, Washington D.C., followed byother two folk music nights at the Millennium Stage of the centre onAugust 10 and 11, he added.

The performance isexpected to bring local audiences and overseas Vietnamese closer toVietnam’s culture, people and landscapes.

A fashionshow slated on August 9 at the Millennium Stage will take severalcollections of Vietnamese top designers – Minh Hanh, Lan Huong, QuangNhat and Chula – to the catwalk.

A cultural show“Dem van hoa Viet Nam” (Vietnam’s Cultural Night) and a fashion showfeaturing the “ao dai” (Vietnam’s traditional long dress) will be alsohosted in New York.-VNA
