Vietnam’s Cultural Days will take place between August 8 and 12 in Washington D.C. and New York City, the US, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The event is being jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Embassy to the US and Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations.

At a press conference in Hanoi on July 21, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said the Minister Hoang Anh Tuan is scheduled to visit the US during the five-day event to boost cultural exchange between the two nations.

The event will launch with a premier folk music concert entitled “Huong Sac Viet Nam” (Fragrance and Colour of Vietnam) on the evening of August 8 at the Terrace Theatre in the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, Washington D.C., followed by other two folk music nights at the Millennium Stage of the centre on August 10 and 11, he added.

The performance is expected to bring local audiences and overseas Vietnamese closer to Vietnam’s culture, people and landscapes.

A fashion show slated on August 9 at the Millennium Stage will take several collections of Vietnamese top designers – Minh Hanh, Lan Huong, Quang Nhat and Chula – to the catwalk.

A cultural show “Dem van hoa Viet Nam” (Vietnam’s Cultural Night) and a fashion show featuring the “ao dai” (Vietnam’s traditional long dress) will be also hosted in New York.-VNA
