Vietnamese exports to the US last year surged 21.3 percent against the previous year to reach a value of 23.87 billion USD, according to the General Department of Customs.
The earning accounts for 18 percent of the country's total export value.
The most valuable exports to the US, one of Vietnam's top markets, over that period were garments and textiles (8.61 billion USD, up 15.5 percent), footwear (2.63 billion USD, 17.3 percent) and wood products (1.98 billion USD, 12.2 percent).
Following close behind were computers, electronic products and spare parts (1.47 billion USD, up 57.6 percent); aquatic products (1.46 billion USD, 25.5 percent); and machinery, tools and spare parts (1.01 billion USD, 7.1 percent).
Vietnam also spent 5.23 billion USD on goods imported from the US in the same time frame, which were up 8.3 percent year-on-year. However, computers, electronic products and spare parts tumbled by 41.5 percent to 576 million USD.-VNA
